Supportive Strength
My journey as a yoga teacher never disappoints. Lately I have been spent much of my journaling entries on friendship. Reflecting on the importance support is to us as social creatures. When it is lost, inauthentic or transactional, the absence is unmistakeable.
Taking that across to the physical and practical application of what I do full-time, I realized how for so long in my first years teaching I neglected using props in my studio classes. Blocks in particular have become my best friends. Asanas I felt I knew so well have a new dimension now - and learning about myself from the inside out is what has kept me practicing all of these years. The ability to give this to my students is an incredible bonus for which I am thankful.
And like those blocks that have always been there and available for me, so are the friends - the real ones - patiently there while I figure out how much I need them.
